Once used as a short-term rental, this unique and beautiful property, built in 1924, has been converted and reserved to provide temporary housing to support local workforce members and international students employed by some of our favorite local resorts and dining establishments, hence “The Locals” name. This home has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, two fireplaces, including a fully equipped kitchen, two stoves, as well as two refrigerators.
Previously known locally as “The Skater’s House,” this architectural beauty was home to German dignitaries during the 1980 Winter Olympics. In fact, the Olympic Committee of Germany owned the property at one point in Hillcrest’s 100 year history. The house received its name from repeated hosting of renowned Olympic skaters and many other skaters in training for competition.
Located one block above main street, Hillcrest is just a short, five minute walk from downtown Lake Placid, affording easy access to restaurants, shops, movies, and Olympic venues. The famous 2.7 mile walk around Mirror Lake, can be easily accessed from the house as well.
